Mike returns to his home town of Gold River on Vancouver Island to attend the funeral of his father, a First Nations Chief. Meanwhile, a lone Orca whale has been spotted in the area, and the whale is unusually socialized to boats and humans. The wale, now known as Luna, becomes the center of attention between The Department of Fisheries & Oceans (DFO), and the First Nation Indians, over Luna's right to be free, in the face of corporate development.
